The Devil Wears Prada | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Deborah Ross The Spectator It's Meryl's movie, everyone says, and in a way it is. She gives a furiously funny performance as a furiously nasty bit of work... But, as I said earlier, scenes without her suffer horribly. Olivia S Really great movie overall. It was very well made and the movie itself was entertaining and pleasing to watch. I liked how well it showed how easy it is to get caught up in achieving the the "high life" that you forget to enjoy your life. It shed light on what is behind fame and fortune and how in reality many people struggle because of how brutal it is to get to that point. The main character Andrea, "Andy", Sacs was easily relatable and likeable which makes it that much easier to understand and enjoy the film. If I were to say anything against it, it would be the fact that for a comedy it wasn't very funny and focused more on the drama aspect. In the end tough this movie was definitely worth the watch and maybe also deserves a rewatch. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/21/24 Full Review Alec C In order to be the boss, you need to dish out some cruelty to get the point across! As a naive aspiring writer takes a job as an editors assistant, she unknowingly gets assigned to the bossy and amoral "Miranda Priestly," and takes all of her punches as she tries to survive in the industry. A witty satire of the cutthroat corporations that run the world bloody, this is an arresting story that keeps us glued to the seats! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review alan g Better than the book. Anne Hathaway, Merril Streep and cast are very good as an expose of the New York fashion scene. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Ed It was kind of entertaining to watch the main character devolve into increasing obsession of her job and idolization of her boss, but there's not really much to it than that. Sure, I guess there's some commentary on work-life balance and corporate culture in there, but it's pretty weak. I honestly didn't even quite understand what was the breaking point for her as literally 5 minutes ago she was still defending her boss. In the end, she gets back with her boyfriend in what I feel is far too little far too late but it works out for some reason. And then they do a little plot twist to make you think that maybe her boss wasn't so bad after all but like no. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/03/24 Full Review Harry S As predictable as can be and has a slightly icky feel to it but overall a pretty enjoyable watch for the most part. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Cujobyte29 How this gets a 76% is beyond me. One of the most clever & heartfelt movies. Great soundtrack n dialogue and performances. Fantastic movie. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review Read all reviews
