HANOVER CHAPEL

Mr. William "Bill" Paul Oeffinger, age 52 of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on November 24, 1970 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the loving son of William Carl "Bill" and Judy Burch Oeffinger. He was raised in Cincinnati until the age of 10 when the family moved to Switzerland County, Indiana. He graduated from Shawe Memorial High School in Madison, Indiana. Bill was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Parish and attended Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay. He was inducted into the United States Navy on August 15, 1989 in Louisville, Kentucky and rose to the rate of Aviation Machinist Mate Airman during the Persian Gulf War era. He was honorably discharged on August 14, 1992 at Oceana, Virginia Beach, Virginia receiving two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, the Navy Battle "E" Award, the National Defense Service Medal, and two Southwest Asia Service Medals. He returned home and was blessed with two children, Robert and Brenna. He worked as a supervisor at Wal-Mart Distribution in Seymour and later with Arvin Sango in Madison for 20 years. Bill was currently working at VSG in Madison at the time of his death. Bill was united in marriage to Malissa Carol Combs on July 12, 2019 at Clifty Falls State Park in Madison, Indiana. He had resided in Hanover since 2008 and was a member of the Madison VFW Post No. 1969 and the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion. He enjoyed following Duke University sports, being with his grandchildren and riding around in his side by side. Bill died on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 2:25 a.m. at his home in Hanover, Indiana with his loving family at his side.

Bill will be missed by his loving wife, Malissa Carol Combs Oeffinger of Hanover, Indiana; his son, Robert Behne of Hanover, Indiana; his daughter, Brenna Oeffinger and her companion, Brian Lugo of Hanover, Indiana; his mother and step father, Judy Burch Oeffinger Cole and her husband, George of Vevay, Indiana; his step children, Eric Statzer (Krissy) of Morgantown, Kentucky, Steven Statzer (Tiffanty) of Madison, Indiana, Anthony Statzer (Molly Hooker) of Madison, Indiana, Ashley Statzer (Aaron Wilson) of Hanover, Indiana, Cody Crabtree (Laken) of Hanover, Indiana; his grandchildren, Evelyn and Alice Behne; Bella and Kai Lugo; his step grandchildren, Tristan, Zaden, Liam, Jay, Roy, Ryan, Kendall, William, Caroline, and Noah; his sister, Kimberly Sue Oeffinger of Vevay, Indiana; his brothers, Adam Wayne Oeffinger of Madison, Indiana, Christopher Carl Oeffinger (Jamie) of Indianapolis, Indiana; his mother in law, Wanda Combs of Viper, Kentucky; his brothers in law and sisters in laws, T.J. Combs and his wife, Ashley of Bedford, Kentucky, Anthony Combs and his wife, Deloris of Viper, Kentucky, Phyllis Miller and her husband, Donald of Frankfort, Kentucky, Allen Combs and his wife Bearlene of Viper, Kentucky, Jasper Combs and his wife, Lynn of Viper, Kentucky, Susan Jones and her husband, Scott of Happy, Kentucky, Christine Cosgrove and her husband, Kenny of Malta, Kentucky, Kayla Alvarado and her husband, Samuel of Lexington, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, William Carl Oeffinger, died March 27, 1990, and his brother, Keith Edward Oeffinger, died August 25, 2013.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. by Deacon Mike Gardner at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre - Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street in Hanover, Indiana. Interment will follow at a later date in the Vevay Cemetery in Vevay, Indiana.

VISITATION
Friends may visit Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre - Hanover Chapel, 278 East Main Street in Hanover, Indiana.

MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.
