The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) provides water for approximately 680,000 of the residents of Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1836 as the Department of Water Supply, today's DWSD collects water from the Detroit River and Lake Huron to ensure that its customers have all of the water they need.
