Kibble is a sure fire way to quickly tame dinos and get better results, but many players are finding their old kibble recipe no longer work, or that some dinos no longer seem particularly interested in kibble.

The entire system saw a major revamp recently, and now kibble is broken down into these types:

  • Basic
  • Simple
  • Regular
  • Superior
  • Exceptional
  • Extraordinary

Let’s dive into which dinos prefer which type, and then take a look at the specific recipes for each variation. While the info below is current as of this writing and applies to most players, note that the reworked kibble systemhasn’t actually been implemented yet on mobile or Switch editions of Ark.

Ark Dino Kibble Preferences

Ark: Survival Evolved Kibble Guide (Updated) (1)Here’s the thing to keep in mind: any type of kibble can be used for any creature, but they shouldn’t be.

Using the wrong type of kibble actually has less effectiveness than either using the dino’s preferred food or even using straight raw meat, reducing it below the standard 1x taming speed.

In other words, if you don’t have the specific preferred type of kibble available, just use something else to tame a dino.

Otherwise, here’s the specific types to use for drastically increased taming speed:

Ark Revamped Kibble Recipes

Ark: Survival Evolved Kibble Guide (Updated) (2)Unlike most other objects crafted in Ark, engrams are not required for kibble, which are instead made using the recipes below.

To craftkibble just combine the ingredients in a lit cooking pot with fuel (or an industrial cooker) and wait — each stack of kibble requires 30 seconds to cook.

Every kibble type requires a specific kind of egg plus a number of ingredients listed in the chart.

While the revamped Ark kibble recipes vary, they all include fiber x5 and a water skin.

Note that the water skin must be atleast 25% full, but if you are using water irrigation connected to an industrial cooker, you can skip this ingredient entirely.
